Colonel Buller apprises his intelligence liaisons of the situation in Longforth, where twenty-seven male bodies were discovered, all completely drained of blood. Buller then begins recounting his encounter with Colonel Jackson Dane. Some time earlier, Buller arrives at Dane's location, and sets up military forces around the perimeter.
